Originally I set out to make a cribbage board and I found three beautiful pieces of wood in the process. A friend had a few Cherry trees cut down and rough sawn and air dried. A small piece of Wenge and a much larger board of Sapele completed the project. I looked for a template to get accurately spaced holes but just couldn’t find one. I went to a local engineering shop and they offered to put the paper outline to a template for $90 if I had the CAD file and $150 if they had to create the CAD file and transfer it through a CNC machine to 10gauge steel. Luckily I found a template from Miesel woodworking supplies for less than $30. You’re probably thinking it must have come from Ch_na. You’re right and it was sent on the slow boat taking three and a half months to get here, but it was worth it. Drilling all of the holes on my drill press took 45 minutes and was a very smooth process.
On a side note; the picture of the cribbage pegs was from a business called fancy-pegs.com (unable to locate that business any longer). That business made the best cribbage pegs of all styles, materials including stones in the head of the pegs, different themed pegs and more. If anyone has info on this company from Ohio, please, please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it.
