Another purse style that I have created. I had previously used solid blocks of wood and carved out the center. On this model I machine several layers creating the final shape which has a hollow core. After separating top and bottom I add the magnet pockets and holes to attached the leather cord. Sand, color with die, put a few coats of sealer on then back in the router to engrave the heart. Gold leave the engraving then apply 5 coats of finish. Final step is to add felt and glues leather cord in place.

Okay, now let’s see this you slap some amboyna burl veneer on the face of this. Really like the gold leaf!

JR I have a good friend who makes high end chess boards and he uses lots of Amboyna. For Christmas he surprised me with a very large slab of burl. I sanded it and finish it and it now it sits on my coffee table. I don’t think I could ever make anything that would do it justice.
