Blues Brothers Scrollwork in Mulberry

This was a commissioned piece by one of my best friends to be given as a birthday gift to her “someone special”.

When this was ordered, I searched quite a while for that “perfect piece” that would compliment the image – I think I found it. The grain pattern in the mulberry almost seems to frame the image perfectly.

I was also able to leave the majority of this piece with live edges – bonus!

Mulberry, just like cherry, will oxidize and darken to an almost caramel color in a few months – double bonus!

I had to hold off posting this for a couple of weeks as the recipient views my projects from time to time. Today is his birthday and I was just informed that he loved his gift!

Dimensions are around 14” high by 10” wide and around 1/2” thick.

As usual, my treatment of choice consists of a soak in lemon oil and a backing of thick felt.

Happy Birthday Jazz!

That’s too cool! I saw the first pic and asked myself “where’s the scrollwork? He just printed the blues bros on some wood.” It wasn’t until the third pic that I could see what you had cut. Excellent results.

Can’t remember if this is my favorite or not..

Jake: First you traded the Cadillac in for a microphone. Then you lied to me about the band. And now you’re gonna put me right back in the joint!

Elwood: They’re not gonna catch us. We’re on a mission from God.

Great movie, great piece!

One of my all time favorite movies. I remember seeing it at the theater when I was in University. My son is now a Joliet police officer. Needless to say – he loves the movie too! :) Wonderful, wonderful work Bob! It is always a delight to see your creations!
