My grandparents both just celebrated their 89th birthday in June. They don’t have nearly the vim or vigor that they once had and sometimes it is difficult to come up with a gift for them. However sometimes things just “click.” The remote control caddy from the May 2008 issue of Wood Magazine was one of those times. For people who spend at least 60% of their waking hours watching television, this was the perfect gift.
So I laminated some oak and mahogany (I think) and had it put together pretty quick. The biggest challenge was to get the lamination on the front piece to match up with the back and sides. It was pretty fun when everything lined up well. The gift was well received and now sits next to my grandpa’s chair.
