Always wanted to build something like this. I constructed this in a similar manner to the coffee table I posted, but for this project I took the wood down with a handplaner, then lightly sanded…still keeping some of the old paint/marks. I finished the top with a very light coat of Ruelle’s wax, lightly brushing it on with a cloth, just enough to bring out some deeper colors on the raised parts of the grain and leaving the rest lighter.

The drawers are also old found printer’s drawers, modified to fit the shorter depth of the piece. I placed simple block style drawer guides on the underside of the top and just let the drawers slide on the bottom shelf. Worked out fine I think. Also decided to leave the space between drawers open for magazines, books, or whatever.

The piece is about four feet wide or so, mounted to wall with metal brackets.
