Project Information

I saw a post from someone here not long ago regarding Automata.. Wooden machines…
I had never really heard of this, but it is right up my alley! WOW there are some complex machines out there!

So this is a first attempt at automata. Fairly simple, and fairly crude, but it works :)
No tape measures or precision engineering involved, everything eyeballed.. parts being 1/4" dowels or cut from 1x pine with a band saw, drilled with a hand held drill. Didn't have any green paint around so rubbed the wood with leaves of Violet flowers (found in the yard) which worked pretty well.

Pretty addicting little project making it work and all :)

Love Automata! This is great! There's a lot to be said about simple, as in KISS or "Keep It Simple Silly!" Well done and thanks for sharing!

Andrew, Welcome To LumberJocks. Great first Automata. What a cool way to dye the wood.

So cool and adorable! Like the crudeness of it which adds a nice appeal. Great for a first try.
