First woodworking project, from a woodworking book I got from the library. Made it so my daughter can see what we’re doing up on the kitchen counters without asking us to pick her up. Learned a lot and it turned out better than I thought. Gave me the confidence to want to learn more and do more projects.

Birch plywood and red oak steps. Ended up just using glued on edging since this was my first project, actually turned out well. I don’t think it’ll peel off and it looks fairly convincing. I’m glad I counterbored the screws and used plugs as it turned out nice, rather than having the screw holes still there.

Very good looking stepper. You are right, the plugs definitely add to the look. Don’t worry about the edge banding. As long as the glue spread was sufficient, it’s not going anywhere. Welcome to the world of woodwork, you’re gonna love it

Good looking and well made stool! Like the design and the plugs. It will get plenty of use. Great job!

A great reason to build such a stool. It looks really good.
