One of the most complex projects I’ve built for an Air Force retiree. He came to me with the basic design. About 70 lbs. of walnut and beveled glass later, it was done. It could have been more elaborate but we nixed plans for an integrated coin rack and saber holder.
All the edges are built with variable dovetails from a Leigh jig and the frames have lap joints to keep them together.
Four pocket hole screws hold the flag box in the main section, with a 1/2” plywood back for support. Both boxes are fit to the two pieces of 1/4” beveled glass.
