I was looking for something to make out of some scrap 2×4 cut offs and I saw Steve on Woodworking For Mere Mortals make a bird feeder that looked like a swing, so I decided to make it and give it to my daughter.

It was actually a little bit of a challenge dealing with so many small parts. I’m surprised I didn’t lose any of the pieces.

Even though this was a small, easy project there were still some basics of woodworking that I actually learned. If I build another one there are things I would do differently that would make it come out even better. It was a fun, little project, though.

Thanks. Yeah, I’m not one to make bird feeders or bird houses or stuff like that, but if I have scrap wood and want to do some woodworking and have nothing else to do . . . sure, I’ll build them. My daughter liked it, which made me happy.

I saw this on WWMM too. I would like to make one as well. I have tons of scraps to use up. I wonder how hard it would be to make one with my daughter?.... Hmmm.. I will have to try and see. Thanks for sharing.

Cool and good looking bird feeder! The birds will love it. Great use of scraps and great work!
