I love making cutting boards. It’s a project that doesn’t require much time and free time is something I don’t have much of. Today I decided to make a few cutting boards. I made two hearts and another brick board. One heart had to be scrapped because a strip of cherry had a crack in it that i didn’t notice when I glued it up. They came out nice, but I definitely prefer the last brick board I made. I forgot how brown purpleheart can be, so the contrast of the two woods is very subtle.

i like your brickyard board. neat and different. sometimes my eyes play tricks on me, but i assume this is a face grain board. you just glued strips of purpleheart between the maple? then crosscut and reverse every other one. right???

That’s actually walnut. Maybe the glare made it look lighter.

Subtle can be very classy. I’d say you nailed that one! Thanks for sharing.

Great looking boards, let me share a tip that degoose shared with me . If you wet the board down well and then set it in the sun all day , the purple heart will turn bright purple instead of brown. Your boards look beautiful.
