Coved red oak box

One more post and I will take a break for a while. I love making boxes. I think I made a dozen when I made these. You get to use very special pieces of wood because of the size. This one is a very wild piece of red oak. About 9”x12”x5 1/2” Bridal joint on lid. Interior wood is eastern red cedar. I make a lot of jewelry boxes and use a variety of crazy woods. Enjoy

What a beautiful box…nice lines and coved sides and the softly pillowed centre section of the lid. Its not only a Wow for me but a favorite also…great job Mike.

That’s a beautiful box. I didn’t know red oak could look like that. Actually, I think it looks like marble. Beautiful job.

Thanks everyone, I have made a lot of this style box – they are quick and fun.
How??? You assemble the box-install the splines and cut the coves with the table saw.
