great job on the flakes! you must have a steady hand, and lots of patience!
as an idea to further your great design, what about adding three dimensional features that could slide through and connect like some puzzles do, they wouldn’t have to be removable, or large. just an idea….

The flakes are made from 1/8” birch plywood (If memory serves me correctly)
