Well at 78 years young , he probably doesn’t need any fancy gauges to tell him about the weather conditions , but I saw one of these that another LJ had made and thought it would make a nice gift for Dad : )
Many thanks to the wonderful folks at my W.Springfield MA WoodCraft store ,Tom and Glenn in particular for giving me tips on finishing the project…..I just wish that the gauges were just a little less expensive , but they look nice anyway : ) Comments and questions are appreciated…..I hope no one minds , but seeing that not everyone uses all three pictures for their projects , I am going to upload a few extra of this one….; ) LOL

I want to thank you for your kind words about my carved screen door but more importantly…I’m dying to ask you a ton of questions about this project! My mother is a weather enthusiast and she would love a gift like that! Where did you find the gauges and glass piece? What is the finish (could it be our favorite product…if so which color?) The whole piece is awesome for a weather geek like my mom. Mind if I borrow the idea? Great Project!

Hi Robin , the plans ,gauges and thermometer are all in one kit , supplied by WoodCraft.
I added my own profiles because the plans call for a very simple profile which looks like a high school wood shop project.
The finish is Waterlox this time : )
Thanks for asking and can’t wait to see how yours comes out !

Robin: Looks like you can only get this from Klockit now as a kit. However, their kit all comes pre-cut. :( This project has given me an idea though since you can buy just the Galileo thermometer by itself from Klockit.

Klockit’s is a totally different shape on both ends. You’ll have to bury them somehow in your project.
I doubt that Robin is still following this post nearly 5 years later : ) Good luck with yours !

<embarrassed>wow, not sure why this popped up to the front page… I didn’t realize it was 5 years old.</embarrassed>

Dusty, it does look like they sell a Galileo thermometer however that is flat on both ends, however they don’t have a photo of it. http://www.klockit.com/products/sku-EEEEE.html

I went ahead and ordered one yesterday, so we’ll see what it looks like in a couple of days, then I’m off to design something with it. ;)

Dusty, just a followup. I did receive the Galileo thermometer I ordered from klockit and if you order the one using the link I provided, it does indeed have two flat ends. :)

Excellent ! Thanks for that info : )
Good to know if any of the ones I made ever get broken, hopefully theirs will be the same size for replacement purposes.
