So a friend is due to retire next week and he asked for a shadow box that resembled the Aerospace Maintenance Duty Officer coin. The coin is the last picture that I referenced. Made of Sapele. The center is 18 inches in diameter. He did want both his enlisted ranks and officer ranks incorporated into so I just routed out slight counter sinks for each of the devices.

The glass is etched and I used flocking for the cutout green shirt. The green shirt symbolizes the flight deck jersey aircraft maintainers wear during flight operations….the wording is hard to see in my poor pictures but it says “U.S. Navy Greenshirts…Dedicated to Naval Aviation Maintenance Excellence”

Very nice. I really like the way you incorporated the rank insignias. Well done!

That’s a great looking shadow box. You really have a talent of coming up with ideas that fit those being represented!

Thanks for everyone’s kind remarks. My friend’s retirement is Friday and he’s getting a little inquisitive on how the box turned out….he’s going to have to wait…ha.
