I had a mallet that was made from left over cutting board scrap and needless to say I broke it after about a year of faithful service. I made this one out of rock maple and turned it on my lathe. I figured it would be a good practice project to better my turning skills. I did learn a important lesson and that is to coop out the handle to except the mallet head. No big deal but every time I use it I see the gap between the handle and the head and it bugs me so I may have to make another soon.

I need to make one too.
I like yours very much, I just don’t know if it’s a bit short, maybe an inch or so taller for my tate.
Wonderful job!!!
