It’s been a long and cold winter and it’s time now to get out in the workshop.

Besides doing renovations in the workshop I have done some small projects to get the skills up to snuff.

Maple antique peppermill in front, spalted maple antique peppermill in back, maple and mahogany (with finial) salt cellar bowl, cherry and purpleheart bowls, cherry and walnut cutting boards

Thanks for looking

See you in the Workhop !

Very nice selection : )
What finish do you use on your salt cellar bowls ? Inside as well ?

The peppermill parts came from Packard Woodworks http://www.packardwoodworks.com/

Thanks for the comments

For all of the items displayed, I used Claphams Beeswax Salad Bowl Finish http://claphams.com/

I use this on almost all food related items. Just reapply every so often to refresh look. I apply heavy coat let dry a bit then turn up the lathe speed and burnish it in with a paper towel.

I use the Beeswax Polish on furniture for a great shine and smell of beeswax.

Thank you very much. I wanted to make some salt cellars , but got various answers as to finishing the insides or not.
Keep up the good work : )

On some food related projects I have also used Circa 1850 Terra Nova NaturOi. They indicate this as natural, FDA approved and safe for food contact.

Great looking turning pieces! Like most the pepper mills and bowls, have beautiful shapes and wood colors.

Have your say...
