My son always emptied out boxes to serve as buildings when we play with our toy cars, so one I decided to start building some out of wood. Its build mainly of scrapped pine and and 3mm hardboard( Think its also called MDF)
Fire station and Police station is done, there is still a army base and a drag strip and others in mind for the future.
I get him involved in it too and he loves been in garage\workshop. Always drilling, cutting with hand saw, turn screws into scrap wood and lots of hitting with the hammers.

Thanks Hawaiilad, I only get to see him every second weekend and every Wednesday evening so I try to create quality where I can. Oh and he is only 4, not scared at any hand tools, uses the battery drill but a bit scared of the other power tools. Doesn’t like the noise they make.

My grandpa made buildings like these for my trucks when I was little – loved the time we spent together and it inspired my love for building things from wood. Wonderful that you are doing this for your son!

Pick up a set of little (but real) ear protection for him, if you haven’t already. That may help with his “fear” of the noise.

Thanks guys, yes he does love them.
@Tjcorey – U know what, that is the best advise anybody has given me in a long time. I haven’t thought about that, because I wear glasses I have never been big on extra eye protection and the noise have never bothered me so I never thought of that.(Yes I know that is a very very very bad habit of me, should be little more safety conscience – SORRY) Never to old to learn something new.

Love them. Another creative way to use scraps. They are strong enough to last many years of fun play. Well done!
