I had some scraps of poplar left and wanted to do another one of these. had to look through the cutoffs to find enough to build it. Has some beautiful quilting and sounds good, too.

what is mineral staining?

Mineral staining is just that minerals from the soil changing the colors of the wood as it grows. In poplar it seems to be mostly found near a spot that has been damaged for some reason. This piece had a large crack running through it and some great colors this call is just the leftovers.
