This is my first paddle that I cut out. I had to cut the 12’ long 2×8 (actually 2×7) with my hand saw. Ii can say that it was a relief to stray away from any power tools, at least for the major parts. I ended using my reciprocating saw to reach the inside angles. the cuts were smoothed off with my jigsaw. I then sanded with 80 grit, 120, grit, and 220 grit sandpaper then cleaned and applied stain and poly.

I created my own stencils for the letters and cut them out with my scroll saw. The small shield was also hand-made and well as the small Greek letters, star and lamp that lay on top. The paddle is about 77 inches tall.

It looks good and very nice work on the scroll saw. A great tribute to the brotherhood. Well done!
