The wife and I are expecting our fourth child any day now and according to my wife I didnt get this done a day to soon. I guess pregnant women worry about things like where their new baby will sleep. Everything was done to the wifes specifications.

I got the plans from Rockler and they were okay except the side measurements were 1/4 inch to tall and I had to go back and trim them to fit. Not fun, but the rest came out pretty well. The plans call for wooden dowels but I biscuit joined and pocket holed everything. It was made from pine and alder and has an alder plaque waiting for a name to burned into it depending on if its a girl or boy. Stained it red mahogony with three coats of semi-gloss spray laquer then I fitted two brushed nickel handles on the sides and called it done. The wife has already made a sheet for it and is working on a bumper to go around the inside.

Maybe a mobile and changing table is next.

I like it. Always wanted to build one and never did.

Great job, it’s lovely especially the design and the finish. I’m sure your wife loves it and the new addition will enjoy it. Congrats!

The new baby is here and is loving his new cradle. He’s 10lbs and 10oz of happy sleepy baby. A cradle is a little low to the ground for a baby’s main sleeping spot but jack loves his new bed and so does his mom.
