2up x 2 down winged box is 7 inch square. My first attempt at a larger winged object with plywood and did not know if the wings would stay on at high speed on the lathe, lost a couple of tips but had enough left to choose which ones would be discarded. The opening and the lower body are segmented rings I had made earlier and finally came in handy. The lid and bottom are red gum and the spiral finial is another try and do project I am working on.. The lid in pic 5 was made from scraps of ply and is not staying. Took a fair bit of sanding and is finished with 2 coats of gloss polyurethane. Pete, I didn’t dye this one but have another ready to turn that will be dyed. Jim, I know you are biting at the bit so watch for an email.

Very nice Bob, I bet you were holding your breath with those wings, looks great.

-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.

That is really cool Bob, would never have thought about using Plywood…... the layers make really neat patterns. Who’d a thunk it….:)
