My” Solar Flair Girls” are two bentwood bookend pieces I made to test my new metal reactive paint with a color on it. Not being a painter with formal training I am relegated to experiment on my own. I tried to paint with a brush but the surface is to rough for sharpness it needed to flow on. . I then tried a thick color gesso using a small trowel that seemed to spread easily with a textured finish I liked. Spreading the color on a rust background I then noticed if I use a transparent stain it would enhance the color using three different shades of minwax stain therefore getting the above texture on wood. Solar Flare girls are small but gives me the knowledge to move forward on larger pieces such as the pictured bentwood dining table I am still working on. I then put dried walnuts for the heads . All this and Heaven too.
