Just bough a Rikon 70-100 off Craigslist and some Easy Wood Turning Tools. After that, I got to wood making square things round!

First is a small (3”) bowl of ambrosia maple. Had some trouble sanding, but i think it turned out well.

Second is a bottle opener made from a Woodcraft kit that came with the lathe. Wood is mahogany.

Overall these were good projects, and I learned a lot, happy with the outcome, but I think this makes a strong case for getting a drill press, as drilling straight hole for pens and other kits is tricky by hand.

Thanks for looking.

Well done, you are off to a great start. Turning is addictive.

Great job. Far better than I did on my first bowl. You want believe how many tools you will find out you (want) sometimes need when it comes to woodworking. Like you I started out with a lathe I found on line and then it was one tool after the other. Still wanting more tools.
Have fun and keep at it.

I agree with Tom. My first bowl looked nothing like yours. Good job.
