I have not been turning much lately, so I decided to try a bowl yesterday afternoon. This is the result. It is 8” wide by 5” tall and is made from Box Elder. It is finished with a wipe-on poly. It is a simple, clean rounded bowl design.

Box elder, very nice! Yes, very nice design. The orange colors mix well with the greys giving a very unique look. Kudos!

The wood, the design, the color, and the finish: I like the one the best. How do you keep turning them out?

Joe, that is really nice! I love the colors. I was kind of wondering if your lathe broke, we’ve been missing your postings.
(This reminds me, I have some box elder pen blanks I need to use.)

Thanks for all the nice comments. I actually turned this with a broken tool rest. I hope to be back turning soon.

Joe, boy how ironic is that?...even though I suggested your lathe may be broke, I of course will deny any rumors that I had anything to do with it. :)
Seriously, I hope they get a new tool rest out to you soon. I have a Grizzly tablesaw and have purchased a few other items from them. From my experience they’ve always been real responsive.

Trifern, Very nice job! I was also looking at some of the other bowls you created and they are remarkable. You truly have a gift for turning. You should make a video!
