My attempt at a Rose in a vase.The Rose is Ash, the short vase is Wild Plum and the second vase is a piece of scrap (???)

That’s a great attempt at the rose, like the details. Did you hand carve the vases also?

Hi Bob,Yes I did carve the vase’s also. Actually I carved 3 vases, there are only 2 shown.
I picked up a splinter from a wedge I had made for an axe handle and started whittlin’.
The resulting rose stopped at about the thorn in the second pix, and when I carved the first vase it sat too low. So, I added an extension to the stem and carved the thorn from the previous base.Now the Rose was too high, and I carved the second, (taller vase). I didn’t like that one,so I carved the 3rd vase, and didn’t like that one either.
I moved on to other projects and left that project be. Ultimately, my little sister saw, likedwanted, and I gave her all of it…
Little sisters are like that, ~~~ , “Love Em” !!!

It’s a beautiful rose and the vases as well, works of art. Great job!
