This piece is carved intact (one piece), except for the oval mounting base, out of Rock Maple.
I stained the bottom of the carving and the top of the mount base in an attempt to match the
mounting. I’ve since seen ways to create better mountings.
Oh well, whittle and learn !!!

Nice carving or is it whittling, your sure got the legs down fine and a terrific polish. Great piece of art.

You catch a unique moment in this sculpture. Very gentle work and need a lot of patient.

Great job Harry. Most people don’t understand or appreciate how difficult it is to carve dimensional, in the round pieces or to create action and movement the way you have.

Very nice! I’m amazed that you could get the legs so perfect. You must have a very soft touch, as this sure looks like it would be too unstable and flimsy for my limited skills; I think if I tried this, I’d also need to provide crutches, because I’m pretty sure there would be broken legs. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks to everyone for their compliments and or critique on my attempts at carving/whittlin’.
I take it all and then attempt to learn from it.
