Comfortable furniture where we live in Costa Rica is non-existant. I borrowed part of this design from a window seat and used a comfortable single mattress that is roomy and has enough space for me and my wife to read reclined.
The mattress slides underneath the sloped back 6” and the arms are bolted on to allow for a adjusting to a higher position like a window seat.
All of the wood is purple heart.

Very nice, Harvey.

How big is the table and what’s the secret behind all that shiny surface??

Hi Bucket head. The woods are purple heart and manglillo. Manglillo is the local name. We literally have over 600 species of trees here so even the foresters sometimes cannot distinguish the differences easily. Both are hardwoods and native to Costa Rica.
Get well soon.

Great work on the beautiful set, great design and joinery. The couch is very inviting. Love the table top, the finish is just amazing.

Have your say...
