Dear Lumber Jocks,
Originally created June 2011
This is one of my first projects that I was really proud. I was making this box for my Grandmother that I was very close. I was going to present it to her on my next visit. My visit kept getting delayed for one reason or another. She died suddenly. So, I transformed the box into her family tree. I then presented it to her at her funeral. She died at 88 and lived fantastic life yet, I cried like she died young.
This box is made from Maple and Walnut. I intended it to be a picture box. She had a large amount of pictures that were disorganized and she did not want in photo albums. The family tree is wood burned. The two things I feel are clever are the handles which I made from left over table saw shavings that were laminated. The internal flocking was found from a place that sells flocking for duck decoys.
My father now owns the box.
