Found a piece of Sassafrass, it looked like a handle to a hammer.
So, I made a little mallet using oak 1×2’s as the head.
It is about 6 ounces, great for little carvings I have been doing by hand.
It was just the shape, and then I had to use it for something…...
I still have some of that Sassafrass stick left who knows….....

Great looking hammer, Mike!
I read somewhere that some folks have an allergic reaction when working with sassafras.

Hi Mike;
I like your mallet very much. Nice work!
The handle has an Asian style which is very well suited to the planned use.

Thanks Lee, it was my first attempt. I did it in about 1 hour. From the oak which I shaped on my belt sander then handed the final. It is just 2 pieces glued and oak doweled together, as I said it is not big or heavy. The handle is about 10 inches long.
My next project may just be an actual mallet.

I like it very much.
When you said needed help, I thought you wanted someone to take it off of your hands.
You can send it my way.<;o)
