Getting Cross

My wife, Avril, suggested that I make a cover for the font in our local church, so I knocked up this pretty simple version using some scrap hardwood floorboarding from a friend, and turned a piece of some other wood (but I can’t remember what!)

It was in the church for about a year before Avril pointed out that it was rather plain, to which I responded that it couldn’t be too fancy as it got turned upside-down regularly to enable flower arrangements to be stood on top of it on the font. She persisted, so we compromised with the little cross added to the top.

During one of its recent inversions, one of the edging pieces was dislodged slightly, so today I did the small repair, and took the opportunity to take another photo’ and post both here.

Your wife is a smart woman! The little cross on top really makes it stand out! Nice job and I bet the church and congregation will love it. You are a blessed man.
