Wedding Keepsake box

Here’s a gift box I made for my buddy Bill who is getting married today. I saved his invitation, save the date card, and a few other things to include in the box (as a starter kit), and also plan to put their card and gift inside as well.

I used red oak for the box sides and birch ply for the lid because it engraves more evenly than the “grainy-ness” of regular oak. I decided to keep it simple with no clasp on the front (to draw attention to the dovetail joints), and finished without stain, just 3 coats of polyurethane.

Hope you enjoy it, comments/suggestions are always welcome!

Nice work Tooch,

What type of dove tail jig do you use?

porter cable jig with the “through” attachment. sorry I forget what the attachment’s model number is… a pain to setup but once you get it figured out you can blow through lots of wood in a short time!

Simple design but looks really classy. The great dovetails set it off. Well done!
