Another alabaster hollow form. I know it is not wood and if I must I will take these down. Wall thickness top and sides around 1/4” and the bottom a little larger. Approx 4 inches around

Real cool piece. Is Alabaster hard to turn? Do you have to sharpen a lot?

Jim it is easy to turn. It is very dirty. Dust everywhere. Had Air filtration on, doors open, and fan blowing it out and still a mess in the shop. Love to turn it. Have several other pieces to turn.

Beautiful job on this and what a relief to see something not made out of wood for a change, ha ha !! Alabaster comes in a lot of forms, but this piece has a wonderful coloring and grain. If they remove this project, it will just be out of jealousy.

Ron, this turned out beautiful. What’s the size and where did you purchase the blank?

It may not be wood but it was made with wood turning techniques. Very nice. I will have to try using alabaster one day.

Glad to see a positive response to a non wood item. Thought I might be made to take down. Thanks for the comments. More Alabaster to turn and post

The size of the piece is 4 inches at the widest and almost round. I bought this piece from New Mexico Stone. They are in Behren New Mexico just off I25. Jason is the miner and he does a great job. I have bought from him the past 2 years. If you need more info let me know.
