This is not really much of a project but was kind of weird so I had to share it.
A friend asked me to mount this gator head on this walnut nameplate/business card holder he had received as a gift.
The gator head was part of my friends grandfathers estate which he inherited.
I had some scrap walnut that matched the base fairly well. I cut a piece to fit inside the jaw to keep it from shifting and another for the base that matched the outline, the piece up the back was to hide where the head was severed, it just looked liked it had been chopped off.
It appears to have been freeze dried to preserve it.
The head is epoxied to the base and is attached to the card holder with a single screw. The finish is spray lacquer.
The front of the card holder looks a little funny in the picture because the name was blurred for privacy.
