My daughter is getting married this summer and she asked me to build them an arbor to stand under for the ceremony.
I’ve never made anything like this but I said I would do it. I couldn’t find any plans that I liked so I found a photo of one and figured it out as I went along. I wanted it to be big and sturdy, her fiancé is 6’2”, and also I will be installing it in their backyard after the wedding.
It’s all constructed from redwood. Mostly mortise and tenon, grooves and glue. The legs are 4×4’s planed down to 3”x3”. Dimensions are 6’ wide at the base, 8’ tall and about 3’ deep. Finished with One Time natural stain.
The daughter and fiancé are very happy with it and I had a lot of fun making it.

Now on to the next project. (The wedding is in August)
