Helped a fellow woodworker, a little lady who builds toys for our Salvation Army toy drive, build a wooden mobile base for her new drill press. It is very simple. 2×6rails, 2×4 ledge and work bench casters she had on hand. Simple. All we had to purchase was a few bolts.

Nice work. Much nicer than my chipboard platter with 4 wheels.

Nice job. Does it fell top heavy or tippy? I’m thinking about doing something like this with my band saw. thanks for sharing.

The base makes it quite a bit more stable than with it just sitting on the concrete. The base adds a little mass down low and is10” wider (including casters) and about a foot longer than from the factory . The casters my friend chose allow the drill press to sit down on the floor rather than on the wheels so it works well and doesn’t require brakes. Bolting the base to the concrete is the optimum for stability but sometime moving things is really nice. Sorry about the pics being rotated. iPhone?!?

How do I erase an entire post?
