So I am piddling around Harbor Freight and notice that they have a router inlay kit for $10 and I had a 25% off coupon. I knew what most woodworking supply stores charged so I decided to take a $7.50 risk.

I already had this Zebrawood and quilted Maple box that had a bad flaw in in the top so I decided to inlay a small Ebony oval to cover it up.

What an educational opportunity this turned out to be. I learned at least 6 different ways NOT to use my new router inlay kit. Each learning experience led to a larger and more elaborate inlay. I ended up with a large Teak diamond that is a hair off center but I DID get my Ebony oval inlayed.

Oh by-the-way, the inlay kit works great. I have done several others since.

You ended up with a nice looking box. Maybe you could share some of the mishaps. I am sure none of us have ever done any of them!!!

That is an outstanding box.
