I was just having the idea of getting into woodworking when I found an old benchtop table saw in my mother-in-law’s garage. Informing that I would go ahead and take the saw off her hands, I decided that I should probably build some sort of rolling cart for it. This is the result.
Overall, I think it went pretty well. The main problem is that the plywood cuts aren’t exactly straight, as can be clearly seen in the final picture. However, given the extremely low-budget “fence” I used in conjunction with the circular saw (as seen in the first picture) to cut the plywood, this is not exactly a surprise.
Anyway, I didn’t build the thing to be pretty, I just needed to whip something up quickly that I could bolt the tablesaw to so that I can start using it and maybe actually attain some straight cuts. We shall see…

Here my two bits worth, from an expert (on hiding my mistakes :) ).
I fix the best joints up front that way only me and my dog know, and she doesn’t tell too many.
Nice sturdy bench though, still fixing up the cleating system in my shop, so a little envious.
Enjoy

Believe it or not, in Asia, many carpenters make fine furniture (like cabinets) with only a circular saw mounted under a sheet of plywood and a lumber fence. Most of them don’t drive and use public transport and the only saw they could bring to a site is a circular saw. Your humble start was also how many woodworkers, including me, got the craft started. As you build up your experience and interest, you can build up your machines and tools on the way. Welcome to the wonderful and rewarding world of woodworking.
P.S. You’ll find creating your birthday / Xmas wish list the easiest thing to do under the sun now!

Hey you talking about me Chuck? Probably not. I still have not made anything in the fine furniture category. LOL
But I hope to be getting there soon…
