Band Saw Box

This is my second attempt at a band saw box. I must say they are fun and simple and everyone should give it a shot. I had a piece of Ambrosia Maple that I wasn’t going to use for turning so I decided it would become a heart shaped box. This one has two internal compartments as you can see. I’m not sure how I managed to get that big gap at the top during the sanding process, I must have dozed off at the spindle sander or something.

This is going to be a gift for my step daughter’s birthday when I see her in a few hours. I just hope the linseed oil finish has dried.

That is a beautiful piece of wood Todd. Yes, these are addictive when you start making them. I am looking forward to seeing your next one.

Ambrosia Maple is one of my favorites. Really nice design and I like how you did the drawer(s). That gap IS pretty big, but the next time you need to fudge it a little bit, glue a tooth pick or something like that to the bottom of the box, in the appropriate place, and it will even out the gap.
Very nice gift.

That band saw box is so beautiful. You did it so well. Did she like it?

Great work on that lovely box. The wood is gorgeous and design is interesting especially on the drawer with two openings.
