This is a wedding gift I made for a friend of mine last year. I made the box, my wife and I made the mead, my wife made the labels and lined the inside of the box.

The box is made of red oak with box jointed corners. A piano hinge for the lid and the claps were salvaged from a small wooden box we had. Finished with several coats of spray on poly.

The mead turned out especially good. I had a hard time talking my wife into giving it up since it was our last bottle of it.

It was well received by the bride and groom especially since it was all handmade. I hope you guys like it too.

very nice box, label, and gift. have you ever heard of the Wine Box Ceremony? this would be great for that…. each person writes a letter to other telling them why they fell in love. the idea is that they wait until their 10th, 20th, or 50th anniversary to open the box. But, if their marriage falls on tough times, they open the box, read the letters and drink the wine hoping to remember why they love the other person in the first place.

ps. the velvet on the inside is very cool!

Very pretty and well made box. Like the dovetails and the velvet lining. I’m sure the couple was very happy to receive it.
