Here is a piece i completed in the fall of 2006. It was a speculative piece of my design that i used to fill some shop time.
The legs are walnut with a maple pin stripe. Here what I did was rip the legs as if I was going to create a normal mitered leg, BUT between the walnut I installed a 1/8” strip of maple. Now those glue ups used a lot of clamps!!
The drawer is maple, dovetailed and on maple guides. This was there first time that I used my Porter Cable dovetail jig that my girlfriend got me for Christmas. It worked pretty well but took a while to get dialed into the correct settings.
The top is solid walnut with a maple spline. This was also my first go a using a card scarper. What a great tool to add to my repertoire.
Please feel free to ask any questions you’ve got.
