Chisel Rack

Got a new set of chisels for my birthday (yeah, my wife rocks!) and even though they came with a nice leather pouch, I wanted to keep them within reach from my bench. I had a piece of walnut – not wide enough… That scrap of maple – not wide enough either. Then the idea hit…

Pretty self explanatory from the photos. A little glue and a couple magnets and all done.

Very nice holder, and nice Bailey chisels! How you like ‘em?

Thanks Smitty. I have to say that I expected more from the baileys. The steel seems good. It takes an edge similar to an antique English chisel that I have but the finish leaves a lot to be desired. It took a TON of work to lap the flats and faces down to a mirror. The machining grooves were canyon deep! Without exaggeration, the $10 set I have from Harbor Freight came out of the plastic with a better finish. The steel was crap, but the finish was better.

Neat rack Dano. Thats a cool way of displaying the size of the chisels. Good idea.

Sucks on the front-end work, Dano. Hope they wear well and last a long time! Thanks for the update.
