Wanted to use some of my veneer scraps so I cut a couple pieces of cedar to turn into a paper towel holder. I shaped the spindle with a spokeshave. I used a router to inlay purple heart into the base. I made the mistake of doing a square tenon in the base before I did the inlay. I had to slowly cut the whole in the purpleheart to slide it over the top. I know for next time what to do. I used the last of my walnut edge banding on the base outline. I finished it with my own Danish Oil mixture, one part tung oil, one part polyurethane and one part mineral spirits.

Great idea, a creative and useful way to use wood scraps. Way to go!
