Here is a box I made for my Mother on Mother’s day this year :)
It’s my FIRST box ever aside from a bandsaw box I started but did not complete as of yet!

The body is made from Maple, the top and bottom are Poplar, and the splines are Purple Heart.

Sanded up to 220 and applied a simple Antique oil finish on it.

Very happy with the results and look forward to more projects!

Great looking box! I love the splines! Great choice of wood too. You got the perfect look out of it.

Thanks everyone! Gotta say, I love this community!
Woodworking is such a rewarding hobby!

Chad: Yea, I happen to get a box of exotics for 30$ and so am able to play, absolutely LOVE how it turned out, though my jig needs some work as the splines were not all exact in size. :)

Randy: Thanks for the heads up, I went and checked out the other “first box” :)

.,.. Did I mention I LOVE this site!??
