When our 15 year old golden passed away my wife decided to have him cremated. Even the neighborhood kids grew up with him. I bought one of those picture inserts so we can always remember how playful he was. When my wife found a golden retriever ornament with the angel wings, that was the golden touch. I’m using a paste wax for the final finish after some oil , maybe another coat or two and it should be fine. I also tried using a biscuit joiner for the miters but it was extremely difficult for me. Anyway, so long to a great friend.

I am sorry for your family’s loss Dave. Loosing a pet is never easy. You have built a beautiful memorial box for Rocket’s final resting place.

I’m sorry about your loss. However, that is a beautiful resting place for his remains.

Like the geometry and the overhang proportion of the base and lid. Well done.

Hi Dave. Sorry about you dog. That is a real nice urn you made for him. I love Golden Retrievers. Our neighbor had one-Maggie- and they had to put her down a couple years ago.I really miss her. I still have a box of dog biscuits in my wood room for her. She got one every time I made a tip to the barn!!

What a wonderful tribute to a great family companion. The golden with wings is a perfect finishing touch. I’m sure Rocket would be well pleased with your efforts. I’m sad for your loss.

Sorry about Rocket.
We just lost our Zoie this last December after 18 years.
I know how you feel, and think your tribute is very nice.
Must have been hard to work on; it was for me.

Wow, thanks guys, these are some nice comments. Gives us a feeling as if you were part of his life also. We are now dealing with our Siberian Husky which we got a couple years ago to keep him company. I think she is taking it the worst. Still mopeing around looking for him. I’ll try takeing her for a good walk and give her some special treats.

Peace be to Rocket, my golden is 12, always been large for the breed, I am afraid we don’t have years left but he stole my heart somewhere along the line. A wonderful tribute, God bless.

Dave sorry to hear about your loss. Once had a bird dog that the family thought a lot of. Used to hunt with him all the time. That was years ago.

Again I would like to thank each and every one for their gracious thoughts and comments. It truly is correct when they say you don’t know what you have till its gone.
