2x Scrap Pine Table

We needed some extra counter space in the kitchen, so I made this table from 2x scraps. I liked the marks and petina on the wood, so I was carful to face the roughest parts to the outside faces.

Table is 24” wide x 48” long x 36” tall.

I tapered the 4×4 legs on the table saw with a tapering jig. The legs are mortised & tennoned to the apron. The whole thing is a little top heavy, so I would not do such a dramatic leg taper again.

I used a Minwax red stain and a Minwax clear coat. However, I am recently educated on Minwax stain from my first forum post and I won’t use that stuff again.

Thanks for having a look.

Nothing better than making any project out of scraps, great job with that.
I made all of my counters in my shop out of 2×4’s and 2×6’s from trash piles from my housing development when it was being built. You always have plenty of scrap construction lumber when they are building houses. I only work with hardwood mostly now and I never throw any good size scrap away. I have many of paying projects just from scrap. You just need an imagination, like making your great looking table.
