I made this one for a civilian employee who was retiring after 24 years of federal service. He is a truly great guy! Didn’t want anything over-the-top so I kept it “subtly simple”. Created this out of of Sapele Mahogany and Poplar. The certificate was brought to me and I placed it in this frame and bordered it with red suede. I used the “crinkle effect to add more depth for the frame. The columns were made out of Poplar once I saw some pine wall trim and wanted to mimic that. The grain on this was absolutely beautiful and glad I used the Minwax pre-stain wood conditioner to really bring it out prior to applying two coats of poly.
