Just finished my latest project and I am really proud of the way they came out. Same design as my earlier box, (but if it works), with a new twist. re-purposed wood used on the lids. They are made from shipping wood where my son works. I had him bring some home to play with and I was amazed at how they came out. I sorted each piece to match and each box came out different. Each box is stained with red oak stain with three coats of polyurethane. The insides are birch plywood, 1/8th inch thick and stained with cherry stain. In all, there are 64 (yes) wooden parts in each box, 66 kreg screws, (only eight visible) and 80 brad nails. No small task for a small box (15X11.5X9tall).

Very impressed. Great job and even better job of making use of wood that would have gone to waste. That’s what I call using your head.

Thanks guys for all the kind comments. Jim, thanks for the help with the glue issue I had with one of these. Tom, I really liked using the shipping wood, one batch has an interesting grain pattern that I had never seen before, I looked it up and I think it was beetle kill pine. That is the darker lid, I kept it separate. Asked my son if he can get some more and his employer said get all I want! Luv2 learn, Thanks guy, still can’t wait to see your version of this! Again, thanks for the kind comments.

I really like this design with the “raised panel” look to the sides and the curved top is excellent as well.
