This is a cherry bowl that was ordered last Sunday & to be done by the end of May. It is 7” in diameter and 3 1/4” high. Wall thickness is about 3/16” . It was a bit green when I started and has moved slightly since taking it off the lathe.

It is finished with several coats of clear matte spray.

That cherry of yours comes up real sweet, I like the slight flair on the base it allows you do get a nice flat bottom on the inside.
BTW Jim, do you use a waterborne or spirit based spray?
Cheers Pete

Another nice one Jim. I really like working with cherry. It seems to turn better for me than about any other wood I have used.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you all for the nice comments. I like turning cherry better than a lot of woods too. Green maple and walnut are fun too!.

G’day , Pete. I use sprit based finish and have a few liquid spirits when I’m spraying too!! I wish I could get VB here in the states!! ..............Jim

Hi Bob and Ivan…........I don’t watch Commercial TV…half or more of what they project at you is commercials….......I have no time for that. I spend my time making projects in the shop. I don’t post half the stuff I do for other people and our church. I also do work for two high schools now besides being in the shop. I like to promote wood working and wood turning instead of seeing kids spend all their time texting and playing video games. I’ll support them any way I can to help them be creative and take pride in their work. I take my fine tip sharpie to the classes to make sure they sign and date their work.

The way I see it, you only go around once….make the best of it!!!!!..................Jim

Another fantastic bowl Jim. Cherry is another beautiful creation of nature. Wish it wouldn’t darken as much as it does
