i made this bed for our master bedroom. it’s made of pine from a local big box store. given the wood used, maybe it qualifies for the “one man’s junk” contest? it is however, a substantial and sturdy piece of furniture. the posts are 5.5” square and are solid. just the footboard alone weighs about 70 lbs. the finish is a verathane gel stain called cabernet. it was the first time i’ve ever used a gel stain, and i definately prefer them now. the headboard reads “TIEFEL”(my last name). i can’t take credit for the carving. it’s a font from MS word, run through my compucarve.

Looks sweet, goes to show that with talent a plain piece of pine can be transitioned into fine furniture. I’d enter it if I were you in the contest!
