My Daughter wanted something in a checkerboard look. This is made from Ash, stained walnut, and Wenge and the insert is made from Cedar to keep the bugs away. There is a keyed lock on the top and one of those chest sliding lid holders. I forgot what they are called but as long as you get the idea. The small pieces are joined with biscuits and everything else is dowled. There is a piece of trim made from Walnut as with the dowels. The finish is General Finishes Gloss water based poly. I am actually starting to like this stuff as it does cure quick.

The daughter is graduating college this month so this is my gift to her. I hope she likes it

Beautiful, I’m sure she will love it and will no doubt remain a cherished heirloom… Thanks for sharing…
